Blinken says two states are the “only path” to “sustainable peace and lasting security.”

Antony Blinken has said that “we must move towards a two-state solution,” a solution he classifies as “the only path” to “sustainable peace and lasting security” between Israel and Palestine. “It is unacceptable to return to what was experienced before October 7,” he stressed during a visit to Tel Aviv this Friday.

The US Secretary of State stressed the need to “do more to protect civilians.” The United States’ priorities include “freeing the hostages” and ensuring that “Hamas does not take advantage of humanitarian pauses” to gain ground in the conflict.

During a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Antony Blinken discussed creating a “humanitarian pause” in Israel’s military offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. During this official visit, the Secretary of State also scheduled meetings with President Isaac Herzog and members of the Israeli military cabinet.

Since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 9,061 people have been killed and 32,000 injured. Among the fatalities are 3760 children and 2326 women.
