Laura Kadar Blyman is one of the survivors of the Hamas attack on the site of the October 7 Nova festival in Israel. A month after the massacre, she recalls that she wanted to die rather than become a hostage to an Islamic group.
She said she hid in a van for about six hours with her husband and friends on the day of the attack. On the 5th, about a month after the attack, Laura returned to the caravan in search of answers to how she could survive.
“They saw that there were people inside the caravan. My husband speaks Arabic and heard them say: “There are living people inside, come here.” At this time we said goodbye to each other. I prayed to die and die. quickly because I knew I would rather die than be a hostage in the Gaza Strip,” the survivor recalled in an interview with Reuters.
Laura says Hamas fighters tried to open the door several times while her husband kept it closed. Even though the lock was broken, they were unable to enter the caravan.
“I was hoping to find answers here, but I don’t think my questions are answered here. It doesn’t explain why I survived, it’s all plastic, it doesn’t make sense, but somehow it saved our lives.” “, the woman told the news agency.
Laura says she won’t be able to sleep and says she can only do so when she finds out if her friends who were taken hostage in Gaza are still alive.
