The coordinator of the Bloc de Esquerda, Maria Mortagua, responded this Friday to the decision of the President of the Republic to dissolve parliament and call early legislative elections for March 10, 2024. Mariana Mortagua stressed that the party wants to “prevent the right to turn mud into a swamp.”
At a press conference, the blocker felt the country was “ashamed of what it is witnessing” and recalled the oversight role the party played “against those involved in major actions”, such as those that resulted in investigations into lithium projects . and green hydrogen.
The Bloc coordinator clarified that on December 19, the party will gather the National Table to mobilize “a project that will resolve the crisis in housing, healthcare, education, wages and pensions.”
Against “the pretense of the country” and “the abuse of bank profits,” Mariana Mortagua promised to defend “what is public” and “to build an alternative.”
“The bloc is ready to present measures,” he assured, reiterating the need to move towards an “effective climate transition.”
An investigation into lithium and green hydrogen projects led to Antonio Costa’s resignation on Tuesday after the ministry said the prime minister was the subject of an independent Supreme Court investigation.
