A 40-year-old man was arrested by the PNP for domestic violence against two women, aged 41 and 34, in the municipality of Monforte (Portalegre) and was being held in preventive detention, security forces said this Friday.
The PNP Portalegre Territorial Command indicated in a statement that the man was detained on Wednesday by soldiers of the Center for Investigation and Support of Specific Victims (NIAVE).
According to the GNR, as part of a domestic violence investigation, gardaí “found that the suspect had physically and psychologically abused the victims, two women aged 41 and 34”, causing them “fear and anxiety”.
During the police investigation, according to the Guard, an arrest warrant was executed for the suspect.
The man was taken to the Portalegre Judicial Court and was subject to preventive detention, the PNP reported.
The National Republican Guard (NRG) reminds us that “domestic violence is a social crime and reporting it is a collective responsibility.”
