Montenegro says “the PSD is ready to rule the country”

“The PSD is ready to participate in the March 10 legislative elections and govern the country,” PSD leader Luis Montenegro said yesterday in Fatima at a meeting of the party’s National Strategic Council.

Intending to “open a new cycle” and seeking to guarantee “government stability”, Luis Montenegro assured that he wanted “a more ambitious future for the country”, and at the meeting the idea emerged of preparing a project aimed at guaranteeing higher wages and better conditions for the health sector and education. The election program, he said, will include the full restoration of frozen working hours for teachers, as well as the goal of having a family doctor for every person.

Suggesting that he was “accelerating” the preparation of the program, he said that “we have a qualified team of people coming from different fields of activity, who are not limited to the staff of the SDP.”

The Social Democrat also took the opportunity to criticize the two PS candidates – José Luis Carneiro and Pedro Nuno Santos – who are participating in the electoral race: “The candidates for the post of PS general secretary will now shed crocodile tears and want to promise what they cannot done in eight years.”
“The Portuguese no longer respect the government or the performance of certain functions by some of its members,” he said.
Last night Montenegro attended the PSD dinner with Carlos Moedas, where he celebrated his two years in office.
