The leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Tuesday ruled out the possibility of creating a coalition with Chega to form a right-wing government. Luis Montenegro has declared his desire to win the election and convince the Portuguese that he is the alternative that Portugal needs.
“The PSD is a truly democratic party and (…) this will be the answer that the Portuguese need. I am determined to win the elections and believe that we can form a government alone,” he began, emphasizing.
Answering a question from journalists about the TVI/CNN poll in Portugal, which again brought victory to the Socialist Party, the Social Democrat assured that he was not worried about this and that his goal was to lead the country out of the path of degradation on which it is on.
Montenegro highlighted low wages, the housing crisis and the situation with the National Health Service as some of the problems that most affect the country’s population.
“I am determined to explain to the Portuguese how the PSD can lift the country out of the impoverishment that recent years have brought. I am determined to lead Portugal on a path that will take us out of the scenario we are in,” he said. .
