Suella Braverman has slammed Rishi Sunak after he sacked her as home secretary, accusing him of “betrayal” and “lacking the leadership this country needs”.
The devastating attack accused the prime minister of breaking his key promise to “stop the boats” ahead of a Supreme Court ruling on Rwanda’s deportation plan on Wednesday.
She also criticized Mr Sunak for his “weak” response to policing pro-Palestinian demonstrations, which she again described as “hate marches”.
The attack will further fan the flames of a growing right-wing rebellion against Mr Sunak and underlines Ms Braverman’s ambitions to one day become Tory leader.
Unfortunately for the Prime Minister, he is also accused of reneging on an agreement she said they made in exchange for her support in last year’s leadership race.
She claimed to have documented evidence of the deal, including guarantees on immigration policy, Brexit and transgender rights. NO. 10 did not deny the existence of the transaction.
In a deeply personal response, Ms Braverman said the Prime Minister had been “rejected” by members of the Conservative Party and therefore had “no personal mandate to be Prime Minister”.

She added that her support was “the deciding factor” in his eventual becoming prime minister.
However, there were signs that there might be controversy over Ms Braverman’s response, with one senior MP accusing Ms Braverman of “narcissistic nonsense”.
The former Conservative minister said the former home secretary had spoken to relatively few MPs.
“She continues to act with complete complacency,” the deputy said I.
“She is the mouthpiece of a small group of authoritarian right-wingers who are trying to pull the Conservative Party to the right.
“They were pampered for too long and she kept getting more and more promotions.”
But a Tory insider warned: “He is definitely targeting right-wing MPs and MPs. And he will find support among them.”
Downing Street also hit back as a former minister, insisting the Prime Minister “believes in actions, not words” including “the toughest anti-illegal immigration legislation this country has ever seen”.
A Number 10 spokeswoman said: “The Prime Minister was proud to yesterday appoint a strong, cohesive team focused on delivering results for the British people.”
“The Prime Minister believes in actions, not words. He is proud that this government has introduced the toughest anti-illegal immigration laws this country has ever seen and, as a result, has cut the number of boats crossing the border by a third this year. And regardless of tomorrow’s Supreme Court decision, he will continue this work.
“The Prime Minister thanks the former Home Secretary for her services.”
Lib Dem home affairs spokesman Alistair Carmichael said: “This is more Conservative chaos.”
“Sella Braverman has failed at every job as Interior Secretary, and now she seems determined to pull everyone else down with her.”
