Main Route 3 (IP3) reopened to traffic at around 7.30pm on a conditional basis following a collision between two vehicles in Treixedo, Santa Comba Dau, a GNR source told Lusa.
“We are now moving in both directions, but in a limited manner, as one of the vehicles involved in the collision is still in one of the lanes,” the same GNR source said.
IP3 was closed due to a collision between “two trucks, one of which crashed into the rear of a heavy vehicle,” the commander of the Santa Comba Dao volunteer fire department, Viseu district, told Lusa news agency.
“The collision seriously injured the lower limbs of the driver of the passenger van, a woman in her 40s, who was flown by helicopter to Coimbra and then returned to Viseu. As I was told, there were no conditions in the city of Coimbra for them to land,” said Helder Mota.
The alarm was raised at 16:47 and 14 operatives were on the scene, supported by five vehicles from the Santa Comba Dao Volunteer Fire Service, the Republican National Guard (GNR) and the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM).
