At least seven people were killed in the southern Philippines by a magnitude 6.7 earthquake on Friday off the island of Mindanao, the Philippine Civil Defense Authority said.
Authorities said six people died in the central Mindanao region and one in Davao Occidental, and noted that damage was still being assessed so the death toll could rise.
Images and videos posted on social media showed scenes of panic at a shopping mall in Davao City during the earthquake, with broken glass and objects falling from the ceiling as people sought shelter.
