Two people were arrested in the town of Coyna, in the municipality of Barreiro, for drug trafficking and possession of prohibited weapons, the National Republican Guard (NR) said on Tuesday.
The arrests took place on Monday at the Criminal Investigation Center (NIC) of Montijo, Setubal district, the GNR said in a statement.
According to the GNR, the military carried out a search warrant at the house as part of an 18-month investigation into drug trafficking crimes, thefts and illegal activities involving firearms in the areas of Coina, Quinta do Conde. and Quinta do Anjou.
During this operation, a 39-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were arrested, and 201 cannabis seeds, 37 packs of tobacco, 28 ammunition, two precision scales, two mobile phones, a crossbow, a machete, a nitrous oxide cylinder, an electric scooter and a moped were seized .
The suspects will be presented to Judicial Court Judge Barreiro on Tuesday for enforcement action.
The operation was reinforced by soldiers from the Santo António da Carneca Territorial Post, the Special Operations Intervention Unit (GIOE) and the Cinematic Intervention Unit of the Operational Intervention Unit (UI).
