Israeli government approves temporary ceasefire agreement in exchange for release of Hamas hostages

The Israeli Council of Ministers approved this Wednesday an agreement for the release of 50 hostages kidnapped in the Gaza Strip during the October 7 attack, most of them women and children, in groups of 12-13 per day, in exchange for a temporary ceasefire. Times of Israel.

According to the newspaper, although the vast majority of the 38 government ministers supported the agreement, representatives of far-right parties such as Otzma Yehudit and Religious Zionism expressed opposition to the agreement before the meeting.

Israel also agreed to allow the supply of additional fuel to Gaza, as well as humanitarian aid.

In accordance with Times of IsraelDuring the meeting, which began Tuesday evening and continued until early Wednesday morning, all Israeli security services, the IDF, Shin Bet and Mossad, expressed their support for the agreement.
