A 35-year-old man was the target of an attempted murder on Monday evening on Estrada Militar da Damaia in Amadora. He was shot twice in the legs and remains in critical condition at Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon.
It was the second shooting of men on the street in 48 hours: Another man, 45, was shot seven times, almost all in the chest and stomach, in broad daylight on Sunday. The judicial police were called and are investigating both cases.
The perpetrator of Monday’s shooting – the victim was seriously wounded in the right thigh and left leg – is still on the run. The same is happening with Sunday’s shooter, who authorities suspect may be settling scores related to drug trafficking.
In both situations, when PSP and Amadora volunteer firefighters arrived on scene, the suspects had already fled.
The attacks took place around the old neighborhood of Bairro 6 de Mayo, an area considered troubled and often subject to disrespect.
