Judge asks Salgado to be acquitted because he has 560 BES shares

The judge who was handed the decision in the BES/GES case, in which the main defendant is former banker Ricardo Salgado, asked the Lisbon Court of Appeal for an acquittal because she considered that “there is a risk of being considered suspicious.” Helena Susano owns 560 shares of BES and believes there is a “serious and serious” reason to “create distrust in its impartiality.” The judge also says she has “a family member who owns shares in Portugal Telecom which are known and publicly alleged to be linked to the fall of the BES universe, a fall that resulted in the near total devaluation of those shares.” Helena Susano recently presided over the trial for the death of PSP agent Fabio Guerra.
