The Almada court sentenced to 13 years in prison the young Ruben Lima, only 20 years old, who on January 6, 2022, stabbed his Portuguese-Moldavian rival Cristiano Cerches with two knives, who died at the age of 18.
According to the website of the Lisbon Ministry of Justice, the young man was found guilty by law of one crime – murder with aggravating circumstances, and another – possession of a prohibited weapon. The decision was read out on Wednesday.
The events took place near the Sul do Tejo metro station in Cova da Piedada, Almada. As soon as he saw Cristiano Cerches, with whom he had been arguing for some time, the defendant approached him and, after an argument, stabbed him twice with a kitchen knife. Despite medical assistance, the young man died on the spot.
Ruben Lima escaped and was arrested by the Judicial Police of Setubal on February 1 this year in Santiago do Cacem. With the support of the People’s Republic of Poland, inspectors discovered a young man trying to renew his citizen’s ID.
