Rishi Sunak has been ridiculed after footage emerged of the Prime Minister seemingly using a hammer incorrectly, but in fact he was told to use it that way.
A shortened clip of an ITV News segment showing Mr Sunak smashing metal jewelery with the side of a hammer rather than his face was widely shared on social media during a visit to Yorkshire on Thursday.
The Prime Minister tried his hand at Emma White’s jewelery studio in Sunny Bank Mills, Farsley, while meeting small business owners in the area.
However, a longer version of the footage showed that Mrs. White, the owner of the jewelry store, actually told him to “use this drill bit” by pointing to the side of the hammer.

What is he doing? Is this the first Prime Minister who has never seen a hammer, never paid for petrol and never filled up his car?
Mr Sunak has previously been implicated in mistakes that have led to claims the prime minister has become out of touch with the people he leads.
Last year he was filmed trying to buy a can of Coca-Cola using a contactless payment card at a petrol station in south London.
During a visit to New Cross the day after the spring budget in March 2022, the then chancellor was seen attempting to scan his bank card using a barcode reader while a cashier asked him to scan a fizzy drink.
During the same visit, Sunak was criticized for filling up his car with petrol to promote a recently announced fuel duty cut, but it turned out it was not his own car.
The Chancellor shared a photo of himself to celebrate the 5p cut in fuel tax, but the car – a Kia Rio – actually belonged to a Sainsbury’s employee.
He later joked about the incident, saying, “The most embarrassing thing that happened to me was having a hard time paying for gas in someone else’s car.”
“Correct? I think you all know that, right? And since then, someone taught me how to use this contactless device. And let me tell you, this technology is now an amazing modern miracle!”
The prime minister has repeatedly rejected accusations that he is out of touch with the public. Asked how to deal with the public during the cost of living crisis during the Tory election campaign last summer, Sunak stressed he should not be blamed for his wealth.
“I think in our country we judge people not by their bank account, but by their character and actions,” he said. “And yes, I’m really lucky to be in the situation that I’m in now, but I wasn’t born this way.”
Mr Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy were the first to arrive. Sunday Times When Mr Sunak was chancellor last year, he made the list of the richest people, becoming the first politician to feature in the annual ranking since its inception in 1989.
