“I can’t say that justice has prevailed. Justice would be to never involve me in a matter that was no business at all.” The statement was made by Luisa Salgueiro, president of the Matosinhos Chamber, in response to the ministry closing the case in which she was accused in Operation Teia.
In a lengthy post on her Instagram account, the mayor thanked everyone who trusted her during the four-and-a-half years this process took. “To those who knew well the technical and legal aspects and from the very beginning declared the absurdity of this suspicion, and to all who, although not versed in the legal issues involved, expressed their confidence in me and my strict respect for the law”, – the mayor wrote, reinforcing the power she gained through the process.
“What I have gained from this martyrdom is the realization that thousands of people deserve me to continue to do my best for Matosinhos, and that they expect me to continue to protect our community and contribute to the progress of our land.”
Let us recall that Luisa Salgueiro was charged on October 24, 2022, on suspicion that she chose her previous chief of staff by appointment without announcing a public competition. On this occasion, the mayor, who is also president of the National Association of Municipalities, defended the legality of the contract.
