The government is considering a 15% pay rise for all NHS doctors

The Department of Health is considering extending a 15% pay rise into 2024 for all National Health Service (NHS) doctors, a newspaper reported on Wednesday. observer.

Thousands of doctors with individual employment contracts are outside the temporary agreement signed between the government and the Independent Union of Doctors (SIM) on Tuesday.

SIM President Jorge Roque da Cunha explained that the agreement applies “to all doctors, but for those with individual employment contracts, it will only apply to SIM members.”

For doctors at the beginning of their careers, their salaries increase by 14.6%. Graduate assistants receive a 12.9% increase, and senior graduate assistants receive a 10.9% increase.

On Tuesday, the government justified the interim agreement on “current political circumstances” and the lack of timely consensus “on all issues under discussion.”

The National Federation of Doctors (Fnam) rejected the temporary agreement because it was “harmful for doctors and social networks,” according to union president Joana Bordalo i Sa.
