Rosa Mota won the Macau mini-marathon at 65

Portugal’s Rosa Mota won the Macau mini-marathon this Sunday at the age of 65, marking the former Olympic champion’s third triumph in the event.

“Everything went well. The weather was great, it wasn’t humid. Of course I’m glad I won and I’m glad to see this great party, this crowd,” – former world and European champion. Lusa said.

Rosa Mota has already won the race in 2018 and 2019, returning to Macau this year after a three-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The affection we receive is what remains, that’s what great trophies are. I already missed it because during the pandemic we were always so far away from each other. It’s nice to see each other again,” he emphasized.

The 6.3 kilometer mini-marathon was one of today’s events at the Macau International Marathon.

Ethiopian Debele Fikadu Kebebe won the marathon, followed by Kenyans Kiptu Edwin Kibet and Paul Katisa Mateka.

The women’s race was also won by Ethiopian Zinashwork Yenyu Ambi, who was also supported by Kenyans Rhoda Jepkorir Tanui and Tekla Kirongo.

The event was attended by about 12 thousand participants from 47 countries and regions.
