On Tuesday, Marcelo Rebelo de Souza felt tense when he ran into a clearly outraged citizen in Mursa.
“You talk very well, you are very polite, but you do nothing. Five years after Pedrogao, they did not clear the forest. They didn’t do anything,” said a visibly angry citizen.
In the video (courtesy of SIC), a man can be seen accusing Marcelo of cheating on the Portuguese. “I’m sorry to tell you: incompetence. I’m an immigrant and abroad I get sad when I see my region. It’s a shame,” he added.
There was a moment when the President of the Republic was visiting areas affected by rural fires that broke out in June in the region, when two people approached him.
Men criticized Marcelo’s work after the tragedy of Pedrogane Grande. “What have you done since Pedrogan until now?” the man asked.
