The Socialist Party (PS) voted against the presence in parliament of former Health Minister Marta Temido and former Health Minister Lacerda Sales to give explanations on the twins’ case.
A request for an urgent hearing was made by the Liberal Initiative (LI), but was ultimately rejected by only a majority of the LI. All other parties voted in favor.
At issue is the alleged favoritism of two twins suffering from spinal muscular atrophy in access to treatment with the drug Zolgensma, costing more than four million euros. The case dates back to 2019.
On the other hand, the PS presented a proposal to hear the current Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Centro Hospitalar Lisboa-Norte.
This request was accepted only with the abstention of IL and therefore the Parliament will hear the current President of the Board of Directors of the Lisbon Norte Hospital Center and Manuel Pizarro.
