The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) filed 19 administrative offenses against the butchers, mostly for violating hygiene standards, and seized 22 kilograms of beef and cheese, as well as scales worth €700.
In recent weeks, ASAE has carried out an inspection operation at butcher shops in the north and south of the country to check compliance with industry requirements such as control of origin and labelling, storage and display conditions, and hygiene conditions. and sanitary facilities.
“As a result of the operation, inspections of 100 economic operators, mainly retail trade, were revealed, and 19 administrative cases were initiated,” he said in a message.
The main violations include the distribution, preparation and sale of meat and meat products “with disregard for applicable hygienic and technical standards, lack of simple advance communication, failure to comply with general and special hygienic requirements, lack of requirements and lack of, inaccuracy or lack of labeling.”
Around 22kg of beef and cheese were also seized, as well as scales worth around €700.
