This Thursday, the secretary general of the PCP said that the alleged favoritism in the case of the treatment of the Portuguese-Brazilian twins must be clarified before the next legislature because of the names involved.
“A naming situation like this needs to be cleared up as quickly as possible, and it would be bad for us if we waited until the next Legislature, sometime in April or May of next year, for that to be cleared up. it can’t be, it has to be faster,” said Paulo Raimundo, speaking to journalists during a visit to the Malveira fair in the municipality of Mafra.
The Communist leader praised the speed of completion of the report, published on Wednesday.
The Secretary General of the PCP reiterated the need to clarify the case of alleged favoritism of twins treated at the Santa Maria Hospital with a drug for spinal muscular atrophy, when, as he explained, what is already known from the report “partly contradicts a number of questions that were raised by those or a different person.”
Paulo Raimundo also questioned the cost of the medicine, which amounts to around two million euros.
“How can you have a medicine worth two million euros to treat a rare disease,” the communist leader asked, adding that “this is incomprehensible and in such situations it is necessary to act together with the pharmaceutical industry.”
When asked about hearing the children’s parents to clarify the matter, the Communist General Secretary replied that “if it were possible to avoid subjecting the parents to this confrontation, it would be more appropriate,” asking everyone to think about what “they would do.” do it to save Your children.”
