The 50-year-old driver was arrested this Thursday evening by PNP officers after he began to escape on the EN 111 highway in Sandelgas, between Figueira da Foz and Coimbra, where a random traffic check was taking place.
The driver disobeyed orders from PPR soldiers to stop and fled towards his home, in the San Mamede area, Lorvan, Penacova municipality, where he was detained.
He will face his first court hearing this Friday, charged with at least the offenses of driving without a license and dangerous driving.
There were also two 20-year-old young men in the car, one of them the son of the driver, whom the GNR identified but did not detain.
When the GNR soldiers realized that the driver was not going to stop, they began a pursuit, which only ended with the arrest of the driver.
The vehicle was confiscated by the PNP, who continue to investigate all evidence.
