The municipality of Porto is suspending visits to the Official Animal Collection Center (CROA) from Friday to convey the message that “an animal is not a gift,” Porto news portal reports.
According to the information provided, in order to raise awareness of responsible pet adoption “where they cannot be treated as a Christmas gift”, the municipality is once again “temporarily” suspending visitations and adoption procedures until January 5th.
“The decision to adopt a dog or cat should be well-informed. Animals need a lot of commitment and free time. Anyone looking to adopt an animal should take into account their lifestyle and future projects, and whether they will have the time to raise it. and meet their needs, be it food, hygiene, leisure and affection,” says CROA.
Scheduling visits for animals available for adoption resumes on January 8th.
