Mariana Mortagua, who took part in this Friday’s session of the Municipal Assembly of Miranda do Douro, stressed in statements to journalists that taxes from the sale of the Douro dams “are a debt to these people that will have to be paid.” “.
“When the dams were assessed, and contrary to what the law and even common sense says, all the equipment that adds value to these hydroelectric projects was excluded. Too often, the interests of EDP are protected from the interests of the inhabitants of Miranda Land,” he emphasized.

According to BE, it will soon be three years since EDP sold six dams in the Douro to the French consortium Engie, and the taxes generated by the deal have yet to flow back to the people of the region.
