Mariana Mortagua claims that Passos Coelho stripped Montenegro of its powers and entered into an agreement with Chega

BE coordinator Mariana Mortagua noted on Tuesday that former Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho did not allow current PSD leader Luis Montenegro to run in the elections, and suggested that the Social Democrats’ project “is in fact an agreement with Chega.”

Speaking to reporters in front of the Amadora Sintra Hospital in Lisbon, Mariana Mortagua reacted to the words of Pedro Passos Coelho, who this morning, when asked about a possible agreement between the PSD and Chega after the March elections, replied that it was yes. It is not for us to decide this issue, but it will depend on the strategies that will be determined by the parties, “and the conditions that the Portuguese will offer them.”

The BE coordinator considered that with these statements Passos Coelho came to “deprive Luis Montenegro of his powers” and “to suggest that the PSD project is in fact an agreement with Chega.”

“It’s not surprising: Portugal knows Pedro Passos Coelho. She knows that Andre Ventura was his assistant, his protégé, while Luis Montenegro was the parliamentary leader of the PSD. Thus, it is a big family,” it is stated.

Mariana Mortagua added that “this large family left and was removed from power in 2015, has since lost elections and will lose again, because the country does not forget, does not forgive what the right has done to wages, pensions, quality of life, dignity those who worked in Portugal.”

Already answering the question about Passos Coelho’s statements regarding António Costa, whom he considered to have resigned due to “indecent and bad appearance”, Mariana Mortagua once again referred to the words of the former prime minister regarding Chega.

“Pasos Coelho appears again on the scene to renounce Luis Montenegro and admit that the PSD project is to govern with Chega,” he confirmed.

Reiterating that “the right wing will be defeated in 2024” in the legislative elections, Mariana Mortagua stressed that “BE will be the force that will contribute to this defeat.”

BE “will play an important and decisive role in finding important solutions, and the solutions that matter are how we open the pediatric and obstetric emergency departments at the Amadora Sintra Hospital every day, at any time, because that’s how it should be be,” he said. .

This morning, upon his arrival at the Justice Campus in Lisbon, Pedro Passos Coelho also admitted that now is not the time to intervene in the political space and expressed hope that the PSD can prepare to become “a leader in this new phase.” “.

Stressing that it will be necessary to have a government “that can inspire the trust of the people,” Passos Coelho said he believes that the Social Democrats will win the elections on March 10: “I obviously hope that the PSD can become the leading party in this new phase. which will open, not because it is my party – I think everyone will understand that I wanted my party to win the elections – and I believe that yes, this will happen.”

On the other hand, Passos Coelho also expressed the hope that “the country will be able to identify in the current government that is leaving office a serious commitment to the situation in which the country finds itself.”

“So serious that the Prime Minister was the only one I remember who felt the need to resign because of indecent behavior and bad appearance,” he said.
