The opposition accuses the government of leaving the SNA in “rags”

A strong opposition has criticized the government’s agreement with one of the doctors’ unions as parties say it is insufficient. “Problems and restrictions continue to arise” despite the agreement, said PSD lawmaker Rui Cristina. He accuses Manuel Pizarro of “bragging” about the “temporary” agreement and that negotiations with doctors were “painful.” “The PS is leaving the Portuguese SNS in tatters,” he criticizes, citing “burnout and the emigration of doctors” as “two signs that something is very wrong with the SNS,” he concluded.

The health minister is in parliament this Wednesday at Chegi’s request to find out the government’s “true business intentions” in negotiations with doctors. In parliament, Chega MP Pedro dos Santos Frasão asked the minister “the reason for this scenario in Portugal,” referring to the chaos in the health sector.

Manuel Pizarro believes that this topic no longer arises because “this is not fiction, in fact there was an agreement” with doctors. He acknowledges that there are problems, but reiterates that “the SNA is providing more attention than at any time in its existence.” He promises that in the coming days the government will publish answers to a number of questions about the full dedication of doctors. “Clarifications will be published today or tomorrow regarding full dedication to the cause,” he said.

According to the deputy Joana Cordeiro of the Liberal Initiative, the government “favors the diplomats, everything is going well before it ends” and this agreement is nothing more than a “temporary” agreement that is only useful for “the one who comes next , will be able to solve it.” “In a hurry, what the government could not solve in eight years,” he concluded.

For PCPs, this is a “bad medical union agreement” with extreme restrictions. The PCP reminds us that if “everything had been good, we would have gotten a positive reaction” from the doctors, which he believes did not happen. “I have not yet met a single (doctor) who would tell me” that this is a good agreement, stressed MP Isabel Pires from the Bloc de Esquerda.
