The Prosecutor’s Office (MP) has charged a man with crimes of domestic violence and aggravated rape of his partner, who was allegedly subjected to “degrading and degrading rules and rituals”, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Porto Region (PGRP) said on Thursday.
The PGRP said in a Dec. 7 order that the defendant was charged with two offenses of domestic violence and 249 offenses of aggravated rape.
According to the prosecution, the criminal acts occurred between August 2022 and June 2023, including the period when the accused was dating his partner and then when they both lived as husband and wife, in Esposende, Braga district.
The deputy considered that the defendant, under pain of punishment, “managed to force his partner to submit to a list of humiliating and humiliating rules and rituals, which he had defined in advance and in detail.”
These rules and rituals covered significant parts of the victim’s daily life, such as “showering, going to the toilet, eating, dressing, standing or sitting in certain places, moving along paths with doors, stairs, sidewalks and passages.”
To this end, the prosecution argues, the defendant also took advantage of the victim’s intellectual weakness, her personal condition and emotional fragility, lack of family support and her economic dependence.
“During this period, the defendant monitored the victim’s compliance with rituals, even required him to send videos to do so, and also imposed other actions to ensure compliance,” the same note states.
As an example, the deputy cites that the defendant began to force the victim to wear a belt that had a padlock on it, which prevented her from removing the pants she was wearing, and the key to which she kept in her possession to prevent her from participating. went to the bathroom unaccompanied.
The deputy also considered that during this period the defendant, in addition to what was described above, also attacked the victim, insulted her and maintained sexual contact with her against her will.
The defendant awaits the progress of the trial, taking into account the preventive detention measure.
