Woman with two wombs gives birth to two babies on two different days

Kelsey was born with two uteruses and this week gave birth to twin girls in each uterine cavity. After 20 hours of labor, Kelsey Hatcher, 32, gave birth to her daughter on Tuesday and her second on Wednesday at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital in England.

Announcing the birth of her “miracle babies” on social media, Kelsey Hatcher called the doctors “amazing.”

“Our wonderful babies are born! They decided that they were statistically rare enough to have their own birthdays. Roxy Leila was born on Tuesday evening, December 19th at 7:49 pm and her sister Rebel Laken was born. on the morning of Wednesday, December 20, at 6:09,” he wrote on Instagram.

Hatcher’s labor was induced at 39 weeks and required double supervision and double staffing, the University of Alabama at Birmingham said.

It was in May that a 32-year-old young mother from Alabama (USA) found out that she was pregnant with twins and that each fetus has its own uterus. “She most likely had a separate ovulation and one egg went into each fallopian tube,” explained Shweta Patel, an obstetrician treating Hatcher. ABC.

A bilateral uterus is a congenital malformation that affects three in a thousand women and is often associated with a high risk of complications. Although rare, pregnancy in both uteruses can happen, as in 2022, when Englishwoman Jade Buckingham gave birth to twins with different skin tones, or in 2019, when Arifa Sultana from Bangladesh gave birth to two children 26 days apart.
