Baby Jesus was left among the rubble of a nativity scene in the city where he was born.

The nativity scene, which depicts the baby Jesus surrounded by rubble, was erected in the West Bank city of Bethlehem as a sign of solidarity with the people of Gaza, who have been living in war and suffering for more than two months. . Information provided New York Times.

This year, instead of traditional holiday decorations, the church created a simple nativity scene for Christmas. In this image, the baby Jesus can be seen among the rubble, as well as some images of the Palestinian enclave after attacks by Israel.

Due to the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the authorities in Bethlehem, the city where Jesus was born, decided to abandon the celebration of Christmas. The cancellation of the festivities, which usually attract thousands of visitors, is a major blow to the city’s tourism-dependent economy.

In her annual Christmas message, Bethlehem Mayor Hannah Hanania called the Israeli offensive “ethnic cleansing” and “genocide.”

The war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, when the Palestinian group launched an armed attack on several Israeli cities. More than 20,000 deaths have already been recorded, most of them in the Gaza Strip.
