President Chegi said today that the Prime Minister’s Christmas message did not address topics such as the crisis of institutions, justice and health, and accused António Costa of failing to fulfill his duties.
“He is a Prime Minister who, in his latest message, manages to miss two major themes that were important to address today and look to the future: the crisis of institutions and confidence in justice that led to the end of his government, and the deep degradation of the system in which our health,” says Andre Ventura.
The Chegi leader responded to the Prime Minister’s Christmas message, in which António Costa said he was leaving a better country after eight years of leading socialist governments, given that Portugal is ready to face challenges with a more skilled population and less debt.
In his reaction in Lisbon, Andre Ventura accused the outgoing prime minister of “a profound failure to exercise self-responsibility, to exercise critical judgment about one’s own responsibility.”
According to Chega’s leader, “António Costa has failed on all fronts by failing to give the Portuguese the calm the country needed on Christmas Eve”, accusing the PS and Prime Minister of living “in a parallel reality, completely different from the majority of the Portuguese.”
“Let’s hope that in March the Portuguese will be able to give an answer to those who do not want to live or resolve their dramas and the dramas of Portugal,” he said.
