A 68-year-old pensioner was sentenced to nine years and three months in prison for firing two shots at close range at a man with whom he was futilely arguing during a traffic situation in Valais de Santarem.
The incident occurred on September 23, 2022, when the accused was driving his car along Rua do Pombal and, without noticing the stop sign, almost ran over another man. The victim found the car hundreds of meters ahead, parked near the house. He put his hand on the hood to check if the engine was warm. The man, a 34-year-old night security guard, had fixed his license plate and was heading home when the accused suddenly appeared behind the wheel of a car and tried to hit him.
The defendant fired two shots from a .38 caliber pistol. One of them hit the victim in the stomach.
