Mariana Mortagua says the situation on social networks is very fragile

Bloco de Esquerda coordinator Mariana Mortagua said this Wednesday that the situation of the National Health Service (SNS) is very fragile and that it can only be supported by the efforts of many specialists.

“We are all aware that the situation in social networks is very fragile and that at the moment the social network is supported only by the efforts of many professionals who work a lot of overtime, far beyond their duties, and do this to maintain SNS,” said Mariana Mortagua in Porto. de Mos (Leiria), where this Wednesday she met at the health center with the user committee and the doctor who is responsible for coordinating the work of the medical unit.

According to Mariana Mortagua, “this is why social networks are still able to provide the answer to so many people who are looking for it,” warning that “very soon they will no longer be able to do this and are already starting to fail in less important and less important issues” . urgent issues.”

“And that is why it is extremely important to provide the SNA with all the necessary investments,” he said.

According to the BE leader, “the government never wanted to do this because it buried the decisions that matter most to health in a Treasury drawer.”

Earlier, Mariana Mortagua specifically addressed primary health care, highlighting that “in this area, six out of ten people do not have a family doctor, which means that more than 60% of users do not have access to health services.”

“When we talk about the shortage of family doctors, we also talk about the chaos in the emergency department, because when the government says that whoever goes to the emergency department should not go, and whoever goes to the emergency department, should call the emergency room. [Linha] Saude, 24, is really disrespectful to people,” he said.

In this regard, he emphasized that “people go to the emergency room not for pleasure, not because they want to, not out of frivolity, but simply because they often do not have a family doctor.”

While refusing to comment specifically on the death on Tuesday of a patient in the Penafiel Hospital emergency department who was being checked with an orange bracelet, Mariana Mortagua stressed that “the emergency department is beyond its capacity” and “there is no way to respond to the emergency department with everything needed.”

Accompanied by the head of Leiria’s list for the March 10 legislative elections, Dr. Rafael Enriquez, Mariana Mortagua noted that there is a lack of investment in health centers, the hiring of specialists, in hospitals, in emergencies, as well as in palliative care.

“The government had all the resources, it had all the budget surpluses” to make these investments, he believed, acknowledging that “solutions to health problems had been found,” such as mechanisms to retain specialists or optimize the operation of health centers. , but “we need to know whether the Socialist Party is on the side of solutions or whether it remains on the side of problems.”

BE’s proposals include “exclusivity for doctors with a 40% pay increase, a hardship bonus, incentives for doctors to travel to areas where there is little attraction” or the ability for health centers to “recruit doctors,” he said.

“These are some of the proposals that we have made, that we have been putting forward for a long time, that would avoid the healthcare chaos that we have today,” the BE coordinator added.
