The PSD demanded this Wednesday the financial order for the purchase of STT shares and asked PS Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos for an explanation, suggesting that he was involved in this decision as Minister of Infrastructure.
These positions were outlined by PSD General Secretary Hugo Soares at a press conference at the party’s national headquarters in Lisbon, following news from the Jornal Económico that the previous government, without disclosing it, had instructed the Parpublic to buy shares in CTT on the orders of then Finance Minister João Leão.
The Secretary General of the PSD began by addressing Prime Minister António Costa, who accused him of carrying out “an electoral campaign using the Portuguese government in favor of the PS” and demanded that he publish the said order of the Ministry of Finance. and explain what motivated this decision to purchase STT shares.
“It is also important to know whether the minister who was in charge of the communications sector at the time, Pedro Nuno Santos, also gave instructions to the Ministry of Finance so that this acquisition, as provided for by law, could be carried out. The SDP demands to know whether taxpayers’ money was or was not used for a possible agreement with the Left Bloc in order to approve the state budget, this is news that is in the media,” he added.
Hugo Soares suggested that the decision to buy CTT shares could be “the whim of Pedro Nuno Santos, as was the case with TAP”, and said that the newly elected PS secretary general “must show your face and you must explain” what the deal was your participation.
“Let them tell the country definitively what is at stake in this matter, which is now shrouded in great uncertainty,” he said.
The Secretary General of the SDP stated that “the state is already losing money” when purchasing KTT shares, and stated that “this must be done in accordance with the law by a joint decision of the Ministry of Finance and the supervising ministry.” industrial zone”.
“This should be done by order of the Ministry of Finance, which should be public, but also with the approval, consent and possibly under the direction of the ministry that oversaw communications in Portugal. This ministry was headed by Pedro Nuno Santos. Pedro Nuno Santos played with planes and then wanted to play with the mail, but it costs the Portuguese money and we need to know this explanation,” he stressed.
