A new lead has emerged that may help clarify the disappearance of Monica Silva in Murtos: an alleged argument between the woman and Fernando Valente on October 3, the last day she was seen.
The family of Monica, who was seven months pregnant, reported this Wednesday, three months after her disappearance, that a witness heard an argument between Monica and Fernando, the murder suspect, in a house in Torreira.
“There is a neighbor who heard Monica and Fernando arguing violently that night. After that, nothing more was heard, everything was silent,” said Filomena Silva, Monica’s aunt.
“Three months have passed, we are in despair, but we believe in the work of the judicial police. We want the Valente family to hand over Monica’s body to us,” he added. Fernando Valente is the only defendant in this case. A man is serving compulsory house arrest in Gaia. He is charged with qualified murder, concealment and desecration of a corpse, and aggravated abortion.
