Montenegro accuses the government of using the state in the election campaign

PSD leader Luis Montenegro accused the government this Thursday of campaigning and of putting the state at the service of the PS, calling on the executive to focus on what is needed to solve the problems of the Portuguese.

In Braga, on the sidelines of a meeting with the rector of the University of Minho, Montenegro said that the government’s actions now “are just visits and just projects,” and added that he had never seen “someone so happy about something that he was not.” able to do it while he had the opportunity to do it.”

“Stop using the state to serve the Socialist Party and use the little time you have left (which I hope will be short and ends on March 10) to do what really matters,” he urged. .

Montenegro cited the health and education sectors, where people are “on the doorstep of hospitals” to receive medical care, as well as the estimated “40 thousand students” who still do not have a teacher in at least one discipline when classes resume. .

“If the government uses the time it still has in government to sort this out instead of campaigning, it will be doing the country a good service,” he reiterated.

On health, the SDP leader warned that “more people are dying” and that there is a “direct link between this reality and the failure” of the National Health Service (NHS) to provide essential health care.

“In fact, there is a shortage of response capacity across Homeland Security, which was particularly evident this Thursday in emergency room wait times,” he said.

In this regard, he criticized the government’s decision to end the public-private partnership at the Braga hospital, which, he added, guaranteed a “better response” to the needs of users at a lower cost to the state.

“The Portuguese need to know that those who are now voting for the Socialist Party to resume such policies are responsible for this decision,” he added, calling on the Portuguese to “reflect on the ideological complexes that mark some candidates.” “in the upcoming elections.
