Former Health Minister Maria de Belem warned this Saturday of “huge instability regarding the functioning of the National Health Service” and asked the parties to implement proposals in this area in terms of human and financial resources.
At the entrance to the 24th National Congress of the PS, which takes place from Friday at the Lisbon International Fair (FIL) and ends on Sunday, the former candidate for President of the Republic was asked about the current state of her health, saying that this is a “very important” area, expressing some concern.
“We all feel enormous uncertainty about the functioning of social media. And social media is the backbone of our democracy. We cannot leave them behind,” he warned.
When asked about the current state of emergency, the former Minister of Health (1995 to 1999) replied that voters should weigh in on the proposals presented by the parties.
“I have not yet read specific proposals from other parties that could solve this problem. Therefore, it is good for people to be aware and, above all, to realize one thing: during an election campaign it is very easy to promise something that seems fantastic, but I think that we are at a stage of maturity in our democracy that we must demand, especially in an area that so demanding in terms of resources,” he warned.
According to Maria de Belen, the one who makes proposals must say what resources he will use to implement them, “human or financial.”
“Let’s see if those promises that seem to solve everything, as if it were a magic wand, how much it costs and in what time frame they think they can implement these proposals
Maria de Belem expressed the hope that the PS will “clearly define its political program.”
“There is no detailed program yet, because we are not yet in the election season, we are in the election season, and a statement has been made on some areas that have even been the subject of internal debate.” [do PS]”, he thought.
