The strike at the checkpoint suppressed 113 trains out of 255 scheduled until 8:00 am.

A strike by Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) workers led to the suspension of 113 trains on Wednesday from 0:00 to 8:00, representing 44.3% of the 255 planned, reports CP – Comboios de Portugal.

This Wednesday, workers, command, control, information, traffic control and railway conservation announced another strike for better working conditions and wages, the third this year.

According to data sent by CP to the Lusa agency, nine trains out of 13 scheduled were suspended in intercity traffic, and 35 trains out of a planned 67 in regional traffic were not operated.

In urban areas of Lisbon, 45 of about 115 trains were cancelled, 20 of 53 were not running in Porto, and four of seven regular trains were not running in Coimbra.

Between 0:00 and 8:00 there were 142 trains, on top of the 106 identified as minimum services, four of which were intercity, 32 regional, 70 in Lisbon city, 33 in Porto city and three in Coimbra .

According to CP, customers who have tickets purchased for travel on Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, Internacional, InterRegional and Regional trains will be allowed “a refund of the full price of the purchased ticket or a free exchange for another CP train.” the same category and in the same class.”

On the last day of the strike, January 4, from 0:00 to 19:00, 781 trains out of 1088 planned (71.8%) were suppressed, and on January 2 – 798 trains out of planned. CP estimates there were 1,086 in total, with only minimal services completed before 7 p.m.
