The couple was left homeless in the early hours of this Monday after a fire left their home in Alter do Chau, in the Portalegre district, uninhabitable, a Civil Protection source said.
A source at the Subregional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of Alto Alentejo told Lusa that the fire, which was alerted at 00:07, broke out in a house located in Largo do Moinho de Vento.
According to the same source, the fire destroyed the interior of the house, which became uninhabitable.
He said the man and woman, whose ages the source could not specify, had been temporarily moved into the family home.
According to a source in the Civil Defense, the fire was extinguished at 00:35, liquidation of the consequences and work on ventilation of the house will continue until 01:38.
To combat the fire, the resources and operations of the Alter do Ço Fire Service, GNR, E-Redes and Municipal Civil Protection were mobilized, a total of 16 units supported by eight vehicles.
