Three areas on the continent will be under an orange warning on Wednesday due to rough seas, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) said.
The orange warning, which will be in effect for Setubal, Lisbon and Leiria from 9am to 3pm on Wednesday, is for “southwesterly waves of 5 to 5.5 meters with a maximum height of 10 metres.” This is stated in a statement by IPMA.
The southern coast and mountainous areas of Madeira are under an orange warning for rainfall (from 01:04 to 15:00 on Tuesday) and wind (from 06:00 to 12:00 on Tuesday), he added.
The southern coast of Madeira is still under an orange warning for rough seas from 09:00 to 15:00 on Tuesday.
The orange warning is the second-most severe on the scale and is issued in “moderate to high risk weather situations,” according to the IPMA.
