Socialist MP Edite Estrela was re-elected this Monday in Strasbourg as vice-president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Permanent Representation of Portugal to this international organization announced.
Edite Estrela, current Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic and former PS MEP (2004-2014) of the Council of Europe, which will run until Friday.
The re-election of Edite Estrela, PS MP for the Lisbon Circle, has already been welcomed by the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, in a message he posted on his Twitter account.
“I welcome the re-election of Edite Estrela as Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The protagonism of our deputies causes great satisfaction,” wrote the Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic.
In the same message, the former Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs also expressed “greater” satisfaction, highlighting the “commitment with which Edite Estrela fights for democracy and human rights.”
