The President of the Republic informed the heads of the PPP and PSP, and this Friday even the leaders of associations and trade unions, that he advocates for these forces a compensation regime equivalent to that of the PS.
This information is contained in a note published this Friday on the official website of the President of the Republic on the Internet, which recalls the position taken by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on December 29 when promulgating the government charter regulating the assignment of the surcharge. to a special regime for ensuring work in the judicial police (SP).
The note published today is headlined: “Professionals from the GNR and PSP, as well as other police forces, should have a compensation regime equivalent to that of the PJ.”
Regarding the position taken by the head of state on December 29 when proclaiming the regime of the SP, we recall: “In this note, in accordance with the principled position expressed many years ago – in particular during the revision of the statute of the judiciary – the President of the Republic defended for other security forces compensation regime comparable to the PS regime, and also recommended this concern to the government, which refuses the next elections.”
The President of the Republic adds that “this position has already been brought to the attention of the Minister of the Interior, the General Commander of the PNP and the National Director of the PSP, as well as today the representative of the Association Platform and trade union leaders.” This happened “therefore before the concentration was scheduled on Sunday, next to the Belém Palace,” it is noted.
The Head of State understands that, having “taken this very clear and unequivocal position”, he must now “add no other public statements or positions during the elections, when this issue has become the subject of party interference, and in particular after the dissolution of the Assembly of the Republic , January 15″.
PSP and GNR members have been protesting for better working conditions and wages for over a week now, demanding a mission raise identical to that awarded to PJ.
On December 29, Marcelo Rebelo de Souza published a note on the promulgation of an addition to the special regime for the provision of work in the PS and a diploma increasing the remuneration of the municipal police, in which he wrote that “despite the reasonableness of the measures contained in these diplomas, their approval by the Government immediately caused a real wave discontent and protest.”
In this note, he mentioned the protest of “trade unions and associations representing other classes of security forces,” as well as “armed forces associations, as well as workers in the general SP career,” over “alleged unequal treatment” and “citing inconsistencies.” and inequality in the amounts to be earned.”
“The President of the Republic therefore draws the attention of the government that will take office after the next legislative elections to the just grievances of these other entities, as well as the need and urgency of measures that will continue the work already begun in the present executive. and may also compensate members of these forces for the efforts, sacrifices and risks they face in performing their functions, which is especially evident in joint action situations such as border control,” he said at the time.
In a note published this Friday, the President of the Republic mentions that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has received from the government a draft decree-law that regulates the appointment of a special regime for the provision of work in the joint venture on December 5th.
A week later, on December 12, the head of state “received a position statement from a platform bringing together six GNR professional associations and six PSP trade unions, not criticizing the increase for the SP, but drawing attention to the unequal treatment and discriminatory situation in which GNR and PSP professionals were subjected” .
