The “Convention for Portugal”, organized by the Democratic Alliance (the coalition that will unite PSD, CDS-PP and PPM in the legislative elections on March 10), takes place today during the day in the Congress Center of Estoril (Lisbon). district).
SDS-PP leader Nuno Melo will speak at the opening stage of the work, at 11 a.m., and PSD leader Luis Montenegro at the closing stage, scheduled for 6 p.m., in the presence of the party president. The PPM, Gonçalo da Câmara, is not included in Pereira’s program, in an initiative whose speakers will be several list leaders and AD parliamentary candidates.
A press release issued on Friday stated that “AD will bring together a group of independents and party leaders as speakers at the convention” to show that “this is more than a party project, it is a government project.”
Pedro Reis, coordinator of the Believe movement, the PSD’s discussion platform with civil society, which launched in January 2023 and has already planned a major congress ahead of the European ones, will open the initiative at 10:45, followed by Nuno Melo and the President of Cascais Chamber, Carlos Carreiras .
Also scheduled to speak in the morning are the President of the Forum of Business Administrators and Managers, Paulo Carmona, the former leader of the Liberal Initiative who left the party last year, and the Regional Secretary for the Sea and Fisheries? in the government of the Azores, Humberto López São João, from PPM.
Former PSD State Secretary and lawyer José Eduardo Martins will also speak at the end of the morning before former Deputy Prime Minister and former SDS-PP leader Paulo Portas, who is expected to speak at 1 p.m.
The second half of the day of the convention will begin with speeches from coalition candidates such as Ana Paula Martins, former president of the Order of Pharmacists and former vice-president Rui Rio, who will be number three in Lisbon, and Eduardo Oliveira and Sousa. , former president of the Portuguese Farmers’ Confederation and head of the Santarem list.
The afternoon will also feature leading Coimbra candidates Rita Judice, Viana do Castelo, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, and Porto candidates Alexandre Homem-Cristo and Ana Gabriela Cabillas.

The AD was presented as part of a public initiative in Porto on January 7, and last Monday the PSD and SDS-PP approved their lists of parliamentary candidates with a view to holding early legislative elections on March 10.
