A motorcyclist died on Sunday in an accident on Estrada Nacional 1 in Vale de Eguas, Alcoentre, municipality of Azambuja, said a source from the Leciria do Tejo subregional command of the National Emergency Management and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).
The alarm about the incident was received at 10:50 am in Vale de Eguas and the resources of the Alcoentre volunteer firefighters and ambulances and medical resuscitation (VMER) from the Vila Franca de Xira Hospital were mobilized to the scene.
The motorcyclist, aged in his 40s, was in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest and rescue crews carried out resuscitation efforts but he was “pronounced dead at the scene” according to an ANEPC source.
There were 19 operatives at the scene, supported by nine vehicles, volunteers from Alcoentre, VMER and the National Republican Guard’s Criminal Investigation Branch of Traffic Accidents (NICAV).
The road at the scene was closed to traffic for about “two hours,” a source in the Leziria do Tejo subregional command said.
