“We want to give the country new ambitions”: Luis Montenegro presents the macroeconomic scenario

PSD President Luis Montenegro said this Wednesday during the presentation of the macroeconomic scenario of the Democratic Alliance (AD) that he intends to bring new ambitions to the country and that he is working to win the Portuguese vote in the next legislative elections.

Luis Montenegro called economic growth an important factor in improving living conditions. He stressed that the three main goals of AD, a coalition of PSD, CDS-PP and PPM, are: Bringing new ambitions to the country; achieve this goal with due responsibility and development of policies to achieve the proposed goals.

Montenegro promises ambition and a sense of responsibility

“We are ready to present a coherent, credible, firm and achievable program. We want to give the country new ambitions and we do this with a sense of responsibility,” the Social Democrat said.

The PSD leader has set goals such as raising the national minimum wage, cutting taxes and reducing unemployment in Portugal.

Criticism of PS

The Social Democrat took the opportunity to criticize the policies proposed by the PS, calling them “closed”.

“It’s not enough to make presentations. We [AD] We do not offer unrealistic goals, paths and do not promise everything to everyone. This is not an AD campaign. You should not go to the auction with offers. I also remember that our proposals were not born now,” emphasized Luis Montenegro.

AD forecasts economic growth of 3.4% by 2028

During his speech, Luis Montenegro said that AD forecasts the Portuguese economy to grow from 2.5% in 2025 to 3.4% in 2028 as a result of a financial shock of five billion euros during the next legislature.

The coalition forecasts gross domestic product (GDP) will grow by 2.5% in 2025, 2.7% in 2026, 3% in 2027 and 3.4% in 2028, driven by domestic demand, once proposed reforms are implemented. .

The minimum wage is set above a thousand euros by 2028

Luis Montenegro set the goal that by the end of the legislature the national minimum wage would reach at least one thousand euros, with an average salary of “about 1,750 euros.”

“Our goal in terms of wages is that by 2028 the minimum wage in the country will be at least a thousand euros and the average wage will be around 1,750 euros,” he said.
