Montenegro accuses PS of attracting “the same people and ideas” and “the result can only be bad”

This Wednesday, the chairman of the SDP accused the PS of including “more parties, the same people, the same ideas” in the lists of parliamentary candidates, considering that “the result can only be bad.”

In a video posted Wednesday morning on his social networks, Luis Montenegro says that “the same people, heated ideas cannot produce different results,” referring to the lists approved this morning by the PS National Political Commission.

“This PS is exhausted, it does not bring any hope to Portugal. These are people of instability who brought mediocrity, who brought the institutional devaluation of the country,” he criticized.

For the PSD president, these lists make a “big difference” compared to the lists of the Democratic Alliance coalition (AD, uniting PSD, SDS-PP and PPM), approved on January 15.

“On the side of the AD there are new people, qualified people who came from society to enrich the political ranks, on the side of the PS there is always and only more party, more party, more party, the same people, the same people, the same people, the same ideas, those same ideas, same ideas. The result can only be bad,” Montenegro says in a video posted on his Instagram.

On the social network X (formerly Twitter), the leader of the Social Democrats and the AD coalition left an identical message.

The PS candidate lists for the early legislative elections on March 10 were approved by the National Political Commission with 84% votes in favor, 13% abstentions and 3% votes against, receiving “only 3 votes against out of 86 voters.” according to the party.

According to the same note, “compared to 2022, the PS is preparing for elections with a large update in the leaders of the lists (about 50%) and maintaining the gender equality mark (45%, i.e. 10 on the top list are women). )”.

The list will be headed by the Secretary General of the Social Democratic Party, Pedro Nuno Santos, in the Aveiro district. Presidential Minister Mariana Vieira da Silva will be number one in Lisbon, while Francisco Assis, current president of the Economic and Social Council (CES), is the Socialists’ first candidate in Porto.

Jose Luis Carneiro, Pedro Nuno Santos’ main opponent on December 15 and 16, will top the PS list in Braga.

Parliamentary leader Eurico Brillante Dias will head the list for Leiria, Minister Ana Abrunhosa for Coimbra, Marina Gonçalves for Viana do Castelo, Francisco Cesar for the Azores, Jamila Madeira for Faro, Ana Catarina Mendes for Setubal, Alexandra Leitan for Santarem, Ana Mendes Godinho from Guarda and Augusto Santos Silva from the Fora da Europa circle and others.
