This Tuesday, the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Republican Guard (GNR) of Sintra arrested a 39-year-old man who escaped from prison to serve an effective four-year prison sentence for committing theft and aggravated robbery.
The suspect was notified of the final verdict in October 2023, but did not appear for execution of the sentence, avoiding contact with the GNR and frequently changing his place of residence. As part of this arrest, the man has already served eight months in a pre-trial detention center.

The detainee, who has a criminal record for drug trafficking and criminal association, was taken to Cacchias Prison.
Authorities searched the suspect’s home, where he lived with his wife and young son, but nothing was seized.
