Luis Montenegro, president of the PSD, presented the lists this Thursday to the deputies of the Lisbon Circle, together with Carlos Carreiras, who will be the coalition’s representative in Lisbon.
As he left, he confirmed that he had not deprived Albuquerque of political confidence in the context of the suspicions that led to searches in the autonomous region.
The PSD leader said the court case involving the president of the regional government of Madeira was “hindering the work of explaining” to voters, but insisted there would be “no changes” from a political point of view for now.
Regarding the specific case, he adds that he “will await all information that can be received regarding the procedural aspect” of the case, and that this is necessary to “protect the functioning of institutions.”
He also explains that if someone is convicted, “while performing public functions, he must leave our party, these are our criteria, and we will apply them to anyone.”
