Paulo Cafofo, president of PS Madeira, says the party is demanding the resignation of Miguel Albuquerque, president of the regional government of Madeira, accused after the mega operation in Madeira.
“We demand that Miguel Albuquerque lift his immunity so that justice can work,” said the socialist leader.
“The Prime Minister should have already resigned,” emphasized the President of the Madeira Socialists.
PS Madeira’s president says the party is mobilized “to promote political change in the region” and wants to start “a new cycle that can uproot the quagmire of corruption.”
“The PS is ready to rule the region, Madeira must change, and Albuquerque cannot continue,” he adds.
He also says that, in addition to the issue of immunity, the mayor is suspected of corruption and malfeasance, saying that the party wants to “clarify the truth and restore normality, since it is impossible to be a person governed by whom Madeirans have lost trust.”
Paulo Cafofo does not comment on the statements of the President of the Republic, but says that he “must make a decision in the light of the perceived instability,” adding that they are asking for “early elections in Madeira.”
