The woman who killed a 44-year-old man near Bairro do Cerco in Porto last February was sentenced this Thursday by the São João Novo court to nine years in prison for possible premeditated murder.
For the court, all the facts stated in the accusation were proven. The crime occurred on the night of February 6, 2023, when the woman, who was 50 years old at the time, went to the back of the Cartes municipal swimming pools, where several drug users usually gathered.
According to the prosecutor’s indictment, when one of the consumers arrived on the scene, he began talking about women, saying some of them were “no good.”
He then approached the defendant and demanded that she leave. There was a confrontation between them, and in the midst of the confusion, the woman grabbed a knife-like object she had hidden in her wallet and stabbed him in the chest.
The man started bleeding and was immediately helped by another drug addict who was there and took him to Alameda de Cartes, where he asked for help.
However, while waiting for rescuers to arrive, the victim went to defecate in an open field and lost consciousness. He was hospitalized in serious condition, but he could not withstand the severity of his injuries and died the next day.
